Chickens

Purton Vets is proud to be a Chicken friendly Practice

We're a Chicken Friendly practice

We believe chickens deserve the best care and many of our patients are loved as individual characters within a small flock. We also recognise that chickens are not really companion animals and our approach to their treatment and care is a balance between their welfare and the financial limitations of diagnostic tests. There is a lot you can do to keep your birds healthy especially when it comes to diet, housing and how you manage introductions to your flock. We recommend you look at the Health Care Pathway, an approach designed to inform, educate and guide owners through some of the most common ailments that affect chickens.

Then, if you need more specific information, look at Health and Common Diseases.
