About the practice
Purton Vets has an excellent reputation in the local and wider community of North Wiltshire. As an employer we receive positive feedback from both locums and colleagues, so much so that a number of colleagues have return to us after seeing practice elsewhere. The clinical team is made up of 5 vets and 6 RVNs. The clinical director, Graeme Pack, has been working in the role for 17 years. The practiced joined Independent Vetcare in 2012 who have continued to invest in the practice and staff, allowing us to continue to manage the practice on a local level while benefiting from the support of a larger group.
All our RVNs and trainee nurses have completed the ‘Fear Free’ training scheme. We are a gold certificate cat friendly clinic and we consider the emotional wellbeing of our patients as important as their physical health.
We have a range of good quality equipment including patient warming systems, infusion pumps, capnography, blood pressure, tonometry, dental x-ray, doppler ultrasound, flexible gastroscope, bronchoscope, rigid endoscopes, laparoscopy, and in-house blood testing. We use visiting veterinary referral services to offer ophthalmology and orthopaedic surgery on site.
We encourage teamwork and communication. We have morning and afternoon rounds every day to discuss cases as well as monthly clinical and practice meetings.
Professional development is encouraged. We do not ring fence equipment or disciplines but encourage our team to develop a broad range of clinical skills.
