Meet the Team

Veterinary Surgeon

I moved to England after completing my veterinary degree at the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 1994. Working in London for 7 years eventually drove Jocelyn and I to the countryside in 2002 with our five cats. We live near Chippenham and have added 2 spaniels and two horses to the family. After working in the practice as clinical director for 5 years we bought the practice in 2007. We invested heavily and established it as one of the best vets in North Wiltshire. In 2012 we joined Independent Vetcare, a co-operative of practices across the UK who work to high standards of clinical care. I have a long standing interest in diagnostic imaging (xrays, ultrasound, endoscopy) as well as in dermatology.

In my spare time I walk the dogs and take photographs. If you'd like to see some of my photography stop by at Tokoloshe

Back to Meet the Team Graeme Pack Selina Walters MRCVS

I graduated from Bristol University Vet School in 2002. Following graduation I realised my passion was with companion animals and after a short period in mixed practice in Bristol I decided to specialise in this area.

After five enjoyable years working in small animal practice in the Bath area I took the opportunity to live and work abroad. For three years I worked in a busy British run Veterinary Hospital in Dubai. Although I enjoyed this experience I missed the English countryside and move back in early 2011 to start with the Purton Veterinary Group.

I enjoy all aspects of working in general practice, but have a special interest in endocrinology and abdominal surgery. I have a genuine love of animals and get a huge sense of reward from being a dedicated and caring veterinary surgeon.

'I live with my husband Matt and two childern, our two much loved Labradors Huxley and Harry, and my rescued Burmese cat Pushkin. I enjoy keeping fit, walking my dogs, riding, and socialising with friends and family.

Miranda Sheppard

I graduated from Bristol University Vet School in 2009 and spent my first 2 and a half years in mixed practice in Newbury. During this time I realised I particularly enjoyed companion animal work and so decided to focus on this area of veterinary medicine. I have moved to Purton from Surrey and am particularly interested in diagnostic imaging and oncology.

Outside of work I enjoy running, mountain biking and baking - as well as being very excited about the new arrival - Boris, the spinone/labrador puppy!

Ida Gilbert BVSc CertVOphthal MRCVS

Ida graduated from Bristol in 1995. She obtained the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 2001 and now provides referrals for eye conditions and ocular surgery once a month at our Purton surgery.

Ida has a busy family life with 2 children, a dog and cats which naturally take up a large slice of her spare time. She does however also enjoy pursuing her interests in dance, gardening and travelling home to her beloved Norway .

Andrew qualified from Massey University in New Zealand in the late 1980’s and has always worked in surgically orientated roles. He moved to Bristol in 2000 to become a partner in a small animal practice in the south of the city and became increasingly dedicated to orthopaedic surgery. He left the practice to concentrate on professional development and spent time at Massey University in the surgery department of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital training with specialist surgeons and helping with surgical instruction of undergraduate students. Recognising the need for a dedicated visiting specialist surgery service in the southwest, he returned to Bristol in 2011 with the aim of providing an affordable high quality surgical service to local veterinary practices and their clients. Andrew is enrolled in the RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics) course, and spends two days each week at Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists.

I graduated from the Royal College in 2010 and spent my first four years working in a small animal practice in Berkshire.

After four years with the same practice, I was looking for a new challenge and am very much enjoying working with the team at purton.

Outside of work I enjoy gardening, running and trying to tire out Loki my Hungarian Vizsla to keep him out of mischief!

Abigail Margot BVetMed MRCVS

I graduated from The University of Bristol in 2004 and after a year working in mixed practice in Coventry I decided to follow my passion for companion animal practice and moved to a Small Animal Hospital in Berkshire. After three and a half years I moved to New Zealand and settled in the city of Hamilton where I worked in a busy Small Animal Hospital for four years. After having my son Jacob we decided to make the move back to the UK to be closer to family. I  am now enjoying working with the friendly team of dedicated staff at Purton Vets.

I love all aspects of working with companion animals but especially general medicine and diagnostic imaging.

I have a long coated chihuahua called Schmo who along with my young son keeps me busy at home. I enjoy the great outdoors and make the most of beautiful countryside around us at the weekends.
