Annual health assessment and vaccination
Vaccination is so much more than an injection. It's an opportunity to carefully assess the individual needs of your pet and make sure there are no underlying problems that might affect the quality of life and longevity of your pet. Even without vaccination we recommend annual health assessments.

Out of hours emergency and critical care service
The practice subscribes to the only dedicated
after hour emergency service in Swindon. The Great Western Referrals
Night Owls Service is unique (compared to veterinary hospitals in
Swindon) in that there is a vet and nurse working all night long
looking after your pet. The service includes access to a recognised
Specialist in intensive care should that be required. Don't worry
about disturbing them, they are not asleep but waiting for you to call at any
time. The service has instructions to contact
us should they be in any way unable to help you.

Full range of surgery and medicine services
Our Small Animal Hospital has the staff and facilities to perform complex surgery and complicated medical diagnostic tests. We hospitalise patients with serious illness overnight and monitor them closely according to their individual needs. In most instances we can offer all the care your pet needs. We accept that in some cases specialist care may be required, such as constant monitoring every hour of the night or specialist surgery or medicine, and our practice prides itself on putting the patient first and referring for specialist care if needed. We have a close working relationship with Great Western Referrals, the only Veterinary Hospital in Swindon to have Recognised Veterinary Specialists. Many Hospitals claim to have vets with specialist interests, but they are not specialists as they do not have the required qualifications.

Cytology Service (same day microscope examination of lumps)
No vet can tell just by feeling a lump what it might be. We can take an educated guess, but if you want to know if a lump is cancer or not we can tell you, usually the same day. A thin needle is used to collect a sample and then examined by us under the microscope. Some lumps fall into a grey area and need further testing but most can be identified as cancer or not and a proper assessment made.

The lastest digital x-ray and ultrasound equipment
Taking X-rays is difficult without using the right equipment. The older "wet chemistry" machines have so many variables that go wrong that getting diagnostic quality X-rays can be frustrating and time consuming. With the new digital technology we achieve a much higher percentage of diagnostic images on the first attempt, this is safer for sedated or anaethetised patients, safer for our staff, and we are not left with enviromentaly damaging waste chemicals.

Comprehensive blood testing laboratory on site
We have invested in the best in-practice blood analysers available and can have results back within 20 minutes of taking a blood sample. Using external laboratories is sometimes required for special tests.

The dog ward has a variety of kennel sizes including walk in kennels. The isolation ward is used to keep animals with dangerous diseases away from other patients.

Microchip Identification (with built in thermometer)
Our microchips are
high quality and include a built in thermometer so we can tell your
pets temperature by scanning them rather than by using a rectal
thermometer. Studies have shown the microchips are a more accurate way
of assessing body temperature. We believe our patients will benefit in the long run with a kinder
approach to taking their temperature.
