Thumbnail image for olympicflag_color.png For the last few weeks we have been "coping" without Amber, our practice manager as she helps her mother prepare for the Paralympic Games.  It took a few weeks for the horses and riders to recover from their flight to Hong Kong but all is going to plan.  Teddy is Anne's mount for this year's Paralympic Games. He is a Welsh section D, owned by Sally Ann Brown.  Sally Ann is a longstanding member of our reception team and Teddy was introduced to Anne about 2 years ago.   Anne describes him as being, "a bright and happy horse who loves hugs."

Teddy has complete trust in Anne, something that can be of particular importance to Paralympic riders, but that doesn't stop him from being stubborn some of the time! This will be Anne's first major championship with Teddy although they have had victories on the international circuit.

Anne Dunham was quoted as saying, "I'm quietly confident; I'm really enjoying it out here and looking forward to shooting for gold. The venue is fantastic and the stables excellent. Teddy travelled and recovered really well and all is going to plan."

The British Para-Equestrian Dressage team begin their Paralympic battle on Sunday, hoping to defend their individual medal titles and scoop a fourth consecutive gold in the hotly contested team competition. With seven riders making up the squad, the GB team is in a strong position, coming to the games as reining World and Paralympic Champions. The athletes and team managers are taking nothing for granted though as they head towards one of their toughest challenges yet.
