PURTON CARNIVAL - 21st June 2008

June 21, 2008
This year's carnival went really well, with a good turn out and we didn't get wet!

Carnival_2.jpgPurton Vets teamed up with Wootton Bassett branch of the Cats Protection. Both organisations vans were decorated and many volunteers dressed up as cats etc.  Our efforts netted us 2nd place in the judging of the carnival entrants! The prize money of £10 was donated to the Wootton Bassett branch of the Cats Protection.

carnival 3.JPGWe were accompanied by our Client Care Manager, Linda Stock's children. Lucy and Ethan entered the decorated bicycle completion, coming 1st and 2nd.

The carnival prosession was followed by the Children's Pet Show at the carnival fete.  The pet show had entrants under the age of 16 and under the age of 10. An exciting mixture of pets were brought along.

carnival 4.JPGThe  winner in the any caged pet with a child under the age of 10 category was Tilly who brought along her pet chicken, Bunty. Tilly was very knowledgable and enthusiastic about Bunty and her care, 'Bunty usually eats corn but her favourite food is banana and rice!"

carnival 5.JPGOther entrants in this category were Maddie who brought along her african snails - Nicola and Carl. They are about 1yr old. Maddie told me that they can lay up to 50 eggs at a time!!

carnival 6.JPGJenna and Alex brought Lola and Lily the Guinea Pigs who are 9 months old. They like to eat lettuce but Lily needs to be quick as Lola is the greedy one and will eat all the food before Lily gets a chance.

Our final entrants were Lewis and Greg with Dash, a 3yr old rabbit who likes eating Shreddies!   The winner of the any breed of dog handled by a child under 10 was Dylan with his rotwieller Kenya who is about 7mths old.

The winner of the any breed of dog handled by a child under 16 was Ellie with Micky. A 5 year old terrier cross who has lived with Ellie for 4 years.

We would like to thank all those who entered the pet show and look forward to next years carnival.
