Price List

We offer the highest standards of service and patient care. While offering value for money we do not compromise the quality of care your pet receives.  You entrust us with your pets welfare which is our number one priority, so we do not cut corners to offer the lowest prices.  An example of this commitment is that we employ a number of registered veterinary nurses to monitor your pet under anaesthetic, rather than using someone without formal training (a common occurrence within the industry), and we invest in the best equipment and training with obvious safety benefits to your pet at a slightly higher cost.

We recommend joining our Pet Health Club which gives clients additional discounts on multiple services.  It costs less to keep your pet vaccinated, wormed and free of fleas and you spread this cost over the year.  In addition you get a discount on many of our services including routine consultations.

Since taking on ownership of the practice in 2007 we have reduced our drug prices, especially expensive drugs that need to be given regularly.  We are probably the cheapest supplier of pet food in Swindon - online store.

We expect payment of all fees at the time of examination.

Item Standard Price Health Club Price
Initial Consultation £29.68 £26.71

Follow-up Consultation £23.68 £21.31

You get 33% more time from our vets.  Our consultations are 15 minutes rather than 10 minutes in length.  This means we see less clients per hour, offer better quality consultations, and on average charge less for our time. Having more time allows us to assess your pets needs more carefully and communicate properly with you.  We do not fit as many clients into an hour as possible.

Night Owls Emergency Consultation £94.50 £94.50

The practice subscribes to the only dedicated after hour emergency service in Swindon.  The Great Western Referrals Night Owls Service is unique (compared to veterinary hospitals in Swindon) in that there is a vet and nurse working all night long looking after your pet. The service includes access to a recognised Specialist in intensive care should that be required.  Don't worry about disturbing them, they are there waiting for you to call at all times. An additional benefit is that our veterinary surgeons are always refreshed from a proper nights sleep and can give you their full attention the following day.  The service has instructions to contact us should they be in any way unable to help you.

Pet Passport £144.42 £129.98

Includes a biotherm microchip, Rabies vaccination, Rabies blood test and a Pet Passport.  We will also advise you on what precautions you need to taken while travelling to protect against tropical diseases. (Best price in Swindon May 2008)

Rabies Booster Vaccination £48.00 £43.20

Our vaccination against Rabies lasts for three years which helps prevent unnecessary vaccination of your pet as well as bring down the cost per year. (It used to last for 2 years and you may need a booster within 2 years of your previous vaccination to keep your pet passport valid so please check with us if you have any doubt)

Microchip Identification Implant £23.10 £20.79

Our microchips are special.  They are high quality and include a built in thermometer so we can tell your pets temperature by scanning them rather than by using a rectal thermometer.  Studies have shown the microchips are a more accurate way of assessing body temperature.  We have not increased our price to you despite them costing more for their improved technology and quality.  We believe our patients will benefit in the long run with a kinder approach to taking their temperature.

Our routine neutering operations are of the highest standard. We do not cut corners to reduce our costs despite the fact that these procedures are heavily subsidised by the practice.  We use expensive but safe anaesthetics.  All bitches have intravenous catheters and fluids as standard, dogs have intravenous catheters (dogs do not need fluids as the operation is less invasive and they need less support).  We take pain seriously and use multiple drugs to prevent pain. We do not charge extra for the painkillers they need to take home.  Your pets are cared for by registered veterinary nurses who monitor the anaesthetic and look after them in recovery.  All follow-up assessments (at 3 days and 10 days) until full recovery are included. Some vets use unqualified "nurses" or administration staff to monitor anaesthetics and monitor pets as they recover.  We don't.

Dog Dental Clean and Polish £98.94 £89.05

Cat Dental Clean and Polish £98.94 £89.05

80% of UK dogs and cats have dental disease.  Treating dental problems in pets is expensive as they always require general anaesthetics and hospitalisation for the day.  To encourage our clients to have their pets teeth cleaned before irreversible disease sets in, the practice offers a subsidised dental service with a full preventative dental cleaning and polishing costing less than a routine anaesthetic.  Scaling and polishing of teeth is done by our registered veterinary nurses who are trained in the procedure.  The price includes any intravenous fluids (if required).

Cats do not normally require further painkillers.  Your pets are cared for by registered veterinary nurses who monitor the anaesthetic and look after them in recovery.  Our cat castrations differ from our cat spay operations only in that they do not have an intravenous catheter as the operation is short.   All follow-up assessments (at 3 days and 10 days) until full recovery are included. Some vets use unqualified "nurses" or administration staff to monitor anaesthetics or monitor pets as they recover through the day.   We don't.
